Effect of Velocity-Based Loading on Acceleration Kinetics and Kinematics During Sled Towing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sled towing (ST) provides an external load in the form of a sled towed using shoulder or waist harness and cord behind athlete. Loading strategies have varied greatly between studies, and despite many investigations, there is little agreement on the optimum loading to develop acceleration phase. The aim this study was investigate kinetics and kinematics velocity-based ST during acceleration phase sprinting. Twelve academy rugby league players performed series 6-m sprints different conditions; uninhibited, 10, 15, 20% velocity decrement (VDec). Sagittal plane kinematics kinetic measures were examined using 1-way repeated-measures analysis variance. Results indicated that affected trunk, knee, ankle AU5 joint (p < 0.05). Peak knee flexion increased as sled loads 0.05), which may enable athletes to lower their center mass increase horizontal force application. Net horizontal propulsive impulse measures greater all conditions 0.05), which significantly because loadings were heavier. In conclusion, highlights effects of differential help coaches understand acute kinetics and kinematic changes improve planning sprint training.

The Effect of Load on Movement Coordination during Sled Towing
Towing sleds while walking is a popular resistance exercise for the healthy athlete. One reason for the popularity of sled towing is that it is widely believed to be a ‘functional’ exercise. Preliminary research suggests towing while walking can increases lower extremity moment impulses; however whether towing a sled utilizes the same coordination patterns as un-resisted walking is unknown. Whi...
متن کاملEffects of resisted sled towing on sprint kinematics in field-sport athletes.
Weighted sled towing is a common resisted sprint training technique even though relatively little is known about the effects that such practice has on sprint kinematics. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of sled towing on acceleration sprint kinematics in field-sport athletes. Twenty men completed a series of sprints without resistance and with loads equating to 12.6 and 32.2...
متن کاملEffect of elastic-cord towing on the kinematics of the acceleration phase of sprinting.
We studied the specificity of elastic-cord towing by measuring selected kinematics of the acceleration phase of sprinting. Nine collegiate sprinters ran two 20-m maximal sprints (MSs) and towed sprints (TSs) that were recorded on high-speed video (180 Hz). Sagittal plane kinematics of a 4-segment model of the right side of the body were digitized for a complete stride at the 15-m point for the ...
متن کاملEffects of Sled Towing on Peak Force, the Rate of Force Development and Sprint Performance During the Acceleration Phase
Resisted sprint training is believed to increase strength specific to sprinting. Therefore, the knowledge of force output in these tasks is essential. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of sled towing (10%, 15% and 20% of body mass (Bm)) on sprint performance and force production during the acceleration phase. Twenty-three young experienced sprinters (17 men and 6 women; men = 17.9...
متن کاملEffect of Fatigue on Knee Kinematics and Kinetics During Walking in Individuals With Flat Feet
Purpose: Flat feet associates with altered knee kinematics, kinetics, as well as knee pain. Fatigue of plantar intrinsic foot muscles may increase the navicular drop. However, it is unclear how fatigue influences the knee pain in individuals with flat feet. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of fatigue on knee kinematics and kinetics in flat feet people during walking. Methods:...
